Since PCs are an open architecture system (i.e. each one is different), the infinite combinations of different hardware, software, and other variables have the potential to cause incompatibilities with a game.

The first thing to check if you are having issues with installing or running the game is to make sure that your computer meets the game's minimum system requirements. The minimum requirements for any game can usually be found on the bottom, on the side, or the back of the box. If you don't meet the requirements for the game, there is a high potential that the game may have severe problems or not even run at all. Minimum requirements are just that - the absolute minimum required for the game to run without any guarantees of excellent performance or high quality.

Also, some boxes may have recommended requirements section. Some options, features, and performance may not be available without meeting the recommended requirements. These recommended requirements are designated such they give you a better overall gaming experience.

To find out what kind of hardware you currently have on your computer, you can use DXDIAG.

Also, many games will require 3D hardware acceleration to run correctly. Despite manufacturer's claims that a computer has 3D ability, some video cards do not have the supported hardware capabilities to be able run 3D games and have them perform well visually. If this is the case, there is little that can be done to fix this other than replacing the hardware. There are also some video cards that have 2D/3D capability to some degree, but do are not fully compliant with all the programming required to run true 3D games correctly. With these cards, you should expect to see many graphical problems and poor performance. You still maybe able to run the 3D game but you will have to lower all of your graphical options in the game. Now doing this may not make the game look appealing but you can sometimes get the game to run on some 2D/3D video cards.

We at Take2 Support cannot recommend that the average computer user upgrades their own hardware and cannot recommend what name brands, makes, or model of hardware to buy. If you choose to upgrade, it is done at your own risk. It is recommended to consult with your computer's manufacturer or a PC technician for recommendations and help if you are considering hardware upgrades.
